Description

For anything that must stay below -150 C — iPSC lines, master banks, anything irreplaceable — dry ice is not sufficient and a liquid nitrogen vapour shipper is required. Unlike almost everything else in cold chain, these are rented and the rental rates are published. Three practical readings of that data matter. Hold time does not track price cleanly: a 21-day unit rents below a 10-day one, because hold time is a function of vessel design and payload capacity and the more expensive unit is buying capacity, robustness or data-logging compatibility rather than duration. Charging is worth paying for: charging a vapour shipper requires a liquid nitrogen supply, appropriate PPE and roughly two hours for the absorbent to take up the nitrogen, so if your facility does not routinely handle LN2 the charging premium is not a convenience fee, it is the entire competence. And the minimum is a month — a three-day international shipment rents the unit for a month because it has to get there, sit, and come back, so budget the round trip rather than the transit.
