Description

Design and manufacture of a culture device that does not exist yet — a new chamber geometry, a modified post spacing, a novel anchor design, a chemotaxis or compartmentalisation layout. eNUVIO's custom devices page documents the full stack: collaborative or from-scratch design, rapid prototyping in an industrial cleanroom, and production runs described as 'a few custom devices or large batch production', with all production performed inside their own cleanroom. Documented process capability includes standard photolithography, RF sputtering and plasma technology, soft lithography plus a patented proprietary molding method for high aspect ratio parts, features in the 1 micron range, thin-layer structures under 20 microns, bonding to glass or other materials, and surface modification for hydrophilicity by chemical treatment, vapour deposition, UV exposure or plasma. Most devices are PDMS. One shipping product is cited as having a 0.5 mm wide feature reaching over 12 mm in height, which is a concrete aspect-ratio reference point. This is the enabling capability behind any non-standard tissue geometry we broker, and it is quote-only via a request form.

Why this is hard to buy today

Labs that need a modified geometry generally do not know that a cleanroom will take a one-off order at all, so they either compromise on an off-the-shelf plate or spend months building a soft-lithography capability they will use once.

Price evidence

No public price for custom fabrication. The vendor's own off-the-shelf devices are the only anchor for what a finished PDMS culture device costs at volume: eNUVIO OMEGA-MP $440.00 per 4 devices / 8 experiments, OMEGA-ACE-4mm $425.00, OMEGA-4 and OMEGA-ACE $285.00 (live store API, 2026-09-01).

These are supplier list prices we located and recorded, not a quotation from Wetware World. Your price depends on quantity, specification and freight, and is only binding once issued in writing.

What you must specify

A quote cannot be produced without these. Anything you leave open, a supplier will assume — usually expensively.

#Parameter
01Device function and the biological question it must answer
02Critical dimensions and tolerances (chamber, channel, post spacing, feature size)
03Aspect ratio and layer thickness requirements
04Material (PDMS default; specify if bonding to glass or another substrate)
05Surface treatment requirement (hydrophilicity, coating chemistry)
06Compatibility with an existing plate footprint, microscope stage or instrument
07Sterilisation method the device must survive
08Quantity: prototype count, then production batch size
09Whether the buyer owns the resulting design and tooling

Quality documentation

Typically available with this item. What actually ships is confirmed on the quotation, per supplier.

  • Dimensional inspection against the agreed drawing
  • Cleanroom production record
  • Prototype iteration and in-house or customer-side testing before batch release
