Description

Structural characterisation of a tissue after it is built: did the myotubes actually align, is the epithelium the right number of layers, is the construct viable through its full depth. Visikol, part of MatTek and Sartorius, is a pure service house with no competing tissue product of its own, which makes it a clean independent characteriser in a supply chain where the builder should not be the only one grading the work. Its published service list covers standard histological services, digital pathology, pre-validated immunofluorescent panels, custom multiplexed immunofluorescent panels, and an image analysis suite spanning cell counting, morphometric analysis, biomarker quantification and colocalisation, machine learning segmentation, classification with machine learning, immune cell infiltration and bioinformatics, alongside in vitro assays including cell viability, cell proliferation and 3D model screening. Visikol's HISTO tissue clearing reagents support whole-mount 3D imaging, which is the right approach for a thick engineered construct where sectioning would destroy the architecture you are trying to measure. No public pricing.

Why this is hard to buy today

Independent structural verification of a custom-built tissue is nobody's product line, so the party that built the tissue is usually also the only party that ever looks at it under a microscope.

What you must specify

A quote cannot be produced without these. Anything you leave open, a supplier will assume — usually expensively.

#Parameter
01Sample type, thickness and fixation state on arrival
02Sectioning vs whole-mount 3D clearing and imaging
03Stain and antibody panel required (specify targets)
04Number of samples and conditions
05Quantitative endpoints required (alignment angle, layer count, cell density, colocalisation)
06Image data delivery format and whether raw data is included
07Whether a pathologist or scientist interpretation is required

Quality documentation

Typically available with this item. What actually ships is confirmed on the quotation, per supplier.

  • Staining controls appropriate to the panel
  • Image acquisition metadata
  • Quantitative analysis report
  • Raw image data delivery where contracted

Candidate suppliers

Organisations we have identified as capable. Listing does not imply a partnership, an endorsement, or that they have agreed to quote.

OrganisationBasis for inclusion
Visikol (MatTek / Sartorius) Service-only CRO: standard histology, digital pathology, pre-validated and custom multiplexed immunofluorescence panels, image analysis, cell counting, morphometry, viability and 3D in vitro assays. No tissue product of its own, which makes it a clean independent QC subcontractor.
MatTek (Sartorius) Ships living, metabolically active 3D human epithelial tissue. EpiDerm technical specification PDF (2025) confirms: standard EPI-200 kit = 24 tissues; 9 mm and 22 mm inserts plus 96-well HTS; shipped at 4 C on medium-supplemented agarose gels; shipment every Monday; Tuesday AM FedEx priority delivery in US; 4-day shelf life including transit. No public price.
